Standard service: 5–10 working days from receipt of your document. Express service: 2–3 working days. Same-day service is available for urgent cases (document must reach us before 10am). These timescales are subject to FCDO processing times.
Yes — the FCDO only apostilles original documents. Please send by tracked Royal Mail Special Delivery to protect your document. We handle it with full care and return it to you by tracked post.
The UK Apostille is accepted in all 120+ countries that are signatories to the Hague Convention (1961). This includes the USA, most EU countries, Australia, Canada, UAE, Nigeria, India, and many more. For countries not in the Hague Convention, embassy legalisation may be required — contact us for advice.
Yes. If your foreign-language document was issued in the UK (e.g. a translated birth certificate), we can apostille it. If the receiving country requires a certified translation, we can also arrange this as an add-on service.
Notarisation is the process of a solicitor or notary public certifying a document. For some documents (e.g. private documents, copies), notarisation must happen before the FCDO can attach an Apostille. Our Solicitor Certification + Apostille service covers both steps.

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Legally Signed website and the apostille and document legalisation services we provide. By placing an order with us, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.
2. Our Services
We provide the following document authentication services:
Express Apostille — FCDO apostille for UK public documents (£82)
Solicitor Certification + Apostille — certified true copy by a CILEX-regulated lawyer plus FCDO apostille (£94)
Same-Day Service — priority processing for urgent orders (£109)
All prices are quoted in GBP and are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Prices are subject to change without notice; the price applicable is that shown at the time of order.
3. Placing an Order
Orders are placed via our online order form. By submitting an order you confirm that:
The documents you submit are genuine and belong to you or you are authorised to submit them
The information you provide is accurate and complete
You are at least 18 years of age
A binding contract between you and Legally Signed is formed when we send you an order confirmation email.
4. Document Submission
You are responsible for sending original documents to us at the address stated in your order confirmation. We accept no liability for documents lost in transit to us. We strongly recommend you use a tracked postal or courier service.
We will return your documents by tracked post or courier. If you require a specific return method, please notify us at the time of ordering.
5. Turnaround Times
Express Apostille: 3–5 working days (from receipt of documents)
Solicitor Certification + Apostille: 3–5 working days
Same-Day: same working day if documents received before 10:00am
Turnaround times are estimates only and may be affected by FCDO processing delays, public holidays, or factors outside our control. We will notify you of any significant delays.
6. Payment
Payment is due at the time of ordering or as otherwise agreed. We accept payment by bank transfer, debit/credit card, and other methods displayed at checkout. Orders will not be processed until payment is confirmed.
We do not store card details. All card payments are processed securely by our payment provider.
7. Cancellations and Refunds
You may cancel your order at no charge before we have begun processing your documents. Contact us immediately at lawyers@legallysigned.co.uk.
Once processing has commenced, we are unable to offer a full refund. Any FCDO fees already incurred are non-refundable.
If your apostille application is rejected by the FCDO due to reasons outside our control (e.g. the document is not eligible for apostille), we will refund our service fee but not any third-party fees already paid.
Refunds will be processed within 14 working days.
8. Our Liability
We will carry out our services with reasonable skill and care. However:
We are not liable for delays or rejections caused by the FCDO, embassies, or other third parties
We are not liable for any loss arising from your failure to provide accurate information or eligible documents
Our total liability to you in connection with any order shall not exceed the fees paid by you for that order
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law
9. Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that:
The documents you submit are authentic and legally obtained
An apostille or legalisation is the correct authentication required by the destination country
You comply with the laws of the country in which you intend to use the documents
We provide a document authentication service only and do not provide legal advice on the use of authenticated documents in foreign jurisdictions unless separately instructed.

11. Governing Law
